Time – It is an asset like no other. It is always present abundantly, yet when it comes to its utilisation, we often fail to capitalise on it. Our grandparents, parents, teachers and even peers ask us to use our time wisely. Almost any and every one will willingly give a lecture on ‘Time and Tide wait for none.’

However, when I asked people to tell me why they say ‘Time is Money’, my friends failed. My teachers asked me to study and work hard, my grandparents asked me to respect money, my parents asked me to use it wisely and not waste it. I asked them why it is believed that ‘Time is Money’, but the answer always seemed more like ‘Money doesn’t grow on trees’.

Frustrated by this, I googled ‘How to become a millionaire’. There were 762,000 results. I typed ‘How to become a CEO’; there were 51 million results. I typed ‘How to invest’; 59 million results. The list of the questions is never ending, yet the fascinating bit was how there are millions out there thinking about such questions every day. How ever many people have their theories, surprisingly many people believe these theories. This topic interested me.

In today’s world, the momentary joy derived from the possession of an electronic item no one else has, far exceeds any aesthetic joy. It all seems to be about who has what, and what he or she is doing with it. Money is the instrument which breeds human survival. Our society is driven by the idea of money and wealth. It upset me how I never had the opportunity to learn about such matter in my early teens.

This is where my school stepped in with an initiative for those students who aspire to reach the pinnacle of their dreams, who wish to itch their curiousity, who wish to test their knowledge, who wish to gain exposure and attain intellect. The school started the planning of an event, a quest to explore the being of a commercial industry. The event was named CommQuest.

It is fascinating how the grooming of a successful enterpreuner can start at such a young age, how he can nurture his skills and capitalise on opportunities presented to him. Such an opportunity is our CommQuest at DPS Sharjah.

I feel proud to be a part of this event and await its success.
